Cooking and Such
April 10, 2008 by simplicity
While I was waiting to hear from my colleague, I decided to cook something. I was exhausted but figured cooking will calm me down. I make up my own recipes as I go along. I like to cook from scratch; no store bought packets for me. A friend of mine told me about this “fantastic” microwave-able rice she recently discovered. Those quick-fix rice packets are definitely not my style. I even like to use my own home-made stocks, be it vegetable or chicken.
My creation tonight was vegetable, lentil and sea food gumbo. The spices I used were a little of this and that. Surprisingly, it turned out well. At least I liked it. Maybe, I was hungry. Cooking is an art and as such it’s each person’s own creation. There is no one recipe for one particular dish. Our tastes differ and our cooking reflect those unique tastes. Makes sense?
I was going to wait up until midnight to hear from my colleague. I knew he’d shoot me an email when he got in town, which was supposed to be at midnight, to confirm our early morning meeting. But, since his flight isn’t landing tonight, we’ve changed the meeting to conference call later tomorrow. At least I got the message by 10 tonight. I can get to bed early.
Cooking has been therapeutical and I feel content. Tired but content. Chocolate helped too. A hot bath will do the final trick.
Signing off.
