Persistence

I was recently asked when to stop being persistent. My answer would be until you reach your goal. In the words of Thomas Edison:

But, there are exceptions to persistence. If the process involves reaching goals that are independent of outside influence, then I’d say remain persistent. On the other hand, if it is conditioned on people, then we need to evaluate the situation case by case.
Every person react or think differently. Some may be won over by persistence if they make their own decisions. But, if they must rely on other people or factors in making a decision, persistence will not work because, technically, they are not the decision makers. In such situations, the smart move will be to evaluate all the factors that influence the person’s decision before deciding whether to remain persistent or not. Personally, I deal best with people who make their own decisions. I’m persistent only with those individuals.
I can’t stay up late tonight. I missed 2 appointments with a colleague and he is not happy about it. As compensation I now have to meet him at his location very early in the morning. It’s only fair that I do so.
Signing off.
