Politics or Social Issues?

Monique and I disagree when I claim I’m apolitical. I’m passionate about humanity and everything that is associated with humans. She would argue that is precisely the definition of politics. Both Monique and I have strong opinions and neither of us budge from our point of views. We end by agreeing to disagree. A friend used to get agitated every time I used that phrase. He thought it made no sense. I agree but how do you conclude a disagreement amicably?
Whatever definition we may use, I know I don’t expect acknowledgment and recognition when I stand up for my beliefs. Politicians do. They need a pat on their back. I don’t follow anything blindly either. I’d do enough research to be well informed before making a decision on a subject. During that process, if I encounter injustice or unfairness, I will speak up, no matter who the aggressor may be. I still think that makes me a social and not a political being. And, I’m sticking to it.
I don’t know if I’m making sense. Maybe not. I’m tired and it’s late.
Signing off.
